Keehn interviews

Val Keehn, former mayor, came before the city's Democratic endorsement committee, said Peter Tulin, the committee's chairman.

Tulin said that Keehn had not expressed an interest in running for a particular position, but that she was open to the committee's suggestions as to what position, if any, she might run for. The interview process is neccessary part of running for office with the endorsement of the city committee, so it seems as though Keehn took the step in order to keep her options open.

Of course, word from committee insiders is that the Democrats do not yet have a candidate to challenge Mayor Scott Johnson. To me, it seems as though the Dems may keep Keehn waiting in the wings for a possible run, should another candiate fail to materialize.

When I spoke with her last week, Keehn wasn't giving anything away, saying only that she wanted to keep her options open.

The Democrats have also interview Commissioner of Accounts John Franck and Supervisor Joanne Yepsen. The committee also interviewed Peter Martin, who is hoping to seek the finance office.

It sounds like Keehn is looking for table scraps to be thrown to her by the Committee. How quickly the powerful fall from grace.

hey andrew, if the saratogian wants a comment forum, why not approve the posts before hand. that's what the post star does, and it keeps the personal attacks between bloggers from happening as well as keeping libelous comments like thiges "puppy killier comments" from going days before someone sees them. a comment like that could be up for days before someone actually takes it down.

Thanks for your comment, I've called it to the attention of the people on our staff in charge of making such decisions.

In any event, I agree that some of the mean-spirited, libelous, and vulgar comments are a problem, which is why a pre-screen comments on this blog.

Re Democratic Nominating Process: If what Bernstein said is true that appearing before the nominating comm. for an interview is necessary to receive an endorsement to run for office then how does nominations from the floor and a floor vote mesh with this rule? Just another example of the hypocracy and the lunacy that has taken over the Saratoga Dems. Apparently they have no confidence in Tulin and his committee which they appointed. Why then should voters have any confidence intheir choice of candidates? The political arena looks like the Cookoos nest!
