It's about time someone in state government is viewing the horseracing industry as an asset rather than a libility to the taxpayer.
Taking a 2.75% fee from the purses plus an entry fee and eliminating the funds for the host VLT communities which contibute millions to the state sound more like abusing an asset and the communities who support these asset. The State should be providing an environment for racing and their investors to grow not put up barriers to growth. Eliminate the excess thwo to three hundred consultant and political appointees to positions they have no knowledge or expertise of and that would provide more relief to the budget and anopportunity for racing to grow. The current proposal does not.
