Finally, the weekend
This has been a relatively busy week here at the City Desk, and I'm looking forward to shutting it down for the weekend. I don't have anything new from the beat to post here now, so I'm linking to a story from today's paper on Clean nuclear energy. I've long believe that we are only tapping the beginning of the potential of nuclear energy, and I'm looking forward to reading what these experts say on the matter. That's all for now, have a great weekend.

Why not give your colleague some help with another interesting perspective on his story "County Officials Talk Property Taxes Over Breakfast" appearing in today's paper?
You might start by asking the Supervisors why they gave away the County surplus instead on using it more wisely to address the expected shortfalls in revenue streams?
You can also provide a follow-the-dots explanation regarding the somewhat circuitous route that the financing (and responsibility for) the much heralded AMD plant has taken. Now that the “rats have left the sinking ship”, how is it that did the County taxpayer gets in the legal position of “holding the bag” for this venture? Do we know the name of the current corporation entity?
Don't ask your interviewee if they wish to be quoted, ask them for the answers to the questions they are not addressing. Ask the questions Andrew … ask the questions!
But I’m sure they’ll be more to write about. I understand someone in City Hall donated to Planned Parenthood and still genuflects on Sunday morning and some of us work on the Sabbath, with our hat on, or is it off? Just scandalous!
"Editor’s Note: This is the first in an occasional series of articles examining how Saratoga Springs City Hall spends taxpayer money. This installment looks at employee salaries."
Occasional series? Isn't that an oxymoron? Am I the only one slightly perplexed by the editor's note in today's paper?
HO,
Many apologies. A better word might have been 'intermittent.' That is to say, the article is part of a series, but we're not yet sure of the intervals at which articles will run. 'occasional' was meant to take the place of 'monthly,' 'weekly,' or whatever.
For the record, the wording as it's written is a redundant.
"series of articles examining how Saratoga Springs City Hall spends taxpayer money."
Why not an article on where our employees live? It might surprise everyone that some of the loudest proponents of increasing the City tax burden don't contribute to its fund.
