Executive session
It's now 10:04, and we are still in the midst of the Mayor's agenda. Four more departments to go, plus two supervisors. Uhg.
The good news is that once my deadline passes (about four minutes ago), I'll be turning off the web cast and going home. The bad news is that I'll have to make a long round of follow-up calls in the morning.
The only decision that has been made in the meeting's first three hours that will not make it into tomorrow's paper was a vote taken in executive session to extend the 2008 maintenance agreement with the city school district for the east and west side rec fields, until a new agreement for 2009 can be reached. Why, exactly, this decision had to be taken in executive session, I'm not sure.

Andrew,
Why are you whining about your job?
If making those followup calls is too hard, get another line of work.
Oh, and you called LIVE NATION a magnate in your SPAC story. The dictionary says a magnate is a PERSON of rank, power, influence, or distinction often in a specified area. LIVE NATION is a COMPANY.
The decision was made in executive session because Mayor Johnson doesn't like to do public business in public. He and his City Attorney should both be disbarred for routinely violating the Open Meetings Law.
Mike B. McNamara:
I'm not whining about my job; I'm lamenting the fact that the public business was not completed at a reasonable hour so that I could duly report it to the public.
Making follow up calls is not hard and I don't mind doing it, but, in my view, it is more valuable to see the council's discussions than to hear about them the next day. That's all.
