Still looking for unity

After Wednesday's debacle, I successfully attended this morning's meeting of the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee. Thank you to Chairman Allen Turkheimer and the committee for allowing me to stay and observe your discussions.

If I were to take away one thing from the meeting it is this: The committee has recognized that the only way it will be successful at winning elections in Saratoga Springs is to set aside the party's divisions and unite under their common banner -- but that the committee has a long way to go before such conciliation becomes more than a notion.

There was clearly a lot of vitriol at the meeting, still simmering from 2007. A suggestion was thrown out for the committee to join together for a party, and that probably isn't a bad idea. They may also want to consider marriage counseling.

I heard that Mr Kim showed his true colors, verbally attacking someone after the meeting. A real class act, he is.

There's only one way this party can unify -- and that is to unify in thowing out the sad d despicable remnnants of the Keehn faction.

HOPE!

I am glad to hear that the Chairman had the good sense to allow you to observe as a journalist. Good for him; it sounds like there was at least one sane moment.

I heard Tighe and Ron Kim almost had a fist fight. Is that true?

Andrew,

Although one can't blame you for wanting to escape the nonsense, your mad dash out of the library affter the meeting concluded caused you to miss some fireworks, namely:

Kim and Connolly getting into a profanity laced shouting match with a gentleman in the rear of the room.

Next time: bring a photographer and stick around after!

Why pay so much attention to the Democrats? The Republicans are in charge of the City Council. Shine a little light on them.

Why not ask the Mayor about his support of Joe Bruno? The party is loaded with Bruno allies who've had nothing to say about his corruption conviction. It would be interesting to hear what they're thinking and how they're planning to move forward without him.

Anthrax scare in city court yesterday morning. Police had the dogs sniffing around the judge's chambers.

In regards to the first three comments on this post: As I left the meeting, I saw Commissioner Kim talking with "anonymous" blogger John Tighe.

I did not stay to eavesdrop, as I couldn't be less interested in whatever Tighe has to say to the Commissioner, so beyond the fact that I saw them talking, I cannot comment on the tenor of the exchange.

Kim confronted a racist that has brought a cloud of racism over an entire community. Every racist should be handled the same way, exposed in public for what they are. "True colors", Kim is not the one whos true colors needed to be brought out in public, it was the RACIST John "Kaiser Soze" Tyghe (remember him?)who was exposed! He should be run out of town! BRAVO!

Kim and Connolly were not in a "shouting match with a gentleman."

They were arguing with John Tighe, and everyone who has ever encountered him knows all too well that he ain't no gentleman.

"Deep throat:" Do you know what agency it was? Saratoga Springs Police say they did not respond to any calls in the judge's chambers, and the state court officers do not use canine units.

Sorry Andrew, I don't know the agency. I just know there was residue from fingerprint dust on his door during morning court, and the judge was talking openly to someone about how "they" thought it might be anthrax and even brought the dog in.

Deep Throat: I spoke today with the Sergeant in charge of security at the court, who had no knowledge of any such incident.
