The long wait is over...

Well the announcement announcing an upcoming announcement has been announced. Wonder what Joanne Yepsen has got to say?

Sources told me more than a month ago it is "just a matter of time" before she declares her run for mayor and that the decision was already set with Yepsen and the Democratic Committee. It seems that time may be at-hand.

Supervisor Joanne Yepsen Announces Campaign Intentions For The Coming Year

Ending weeks of rumors, Joanne Yepsen will be joined by friends, family and supporters as she announces her electoral intentions for the coming year on Monday April 8, 2013.

WHO: Saratoga Springs City Supervisor Joanne Yepsen
WHAT: Campaign Announcement
WHEN: 12:00 PM,  Monday April 8, 2013
WHERE: 408 Broadway (Lillian’s Restaurant)

Supervisor Yepsen has focused her time in office on protecting our elderly, balancing urban growth with sustainability, serving our returning veterans and saving local jobs by fighting for the preservation of our world class racing industry.  Joanne remains focused on bringing inclusive, accessible, and open government to Saratoga Springs, just as she has for the past seven years.  She looks forward to the many challenges and opportunities of further strengthening Saratoga Springs in the years to come.
###

Background:  Joanne Yepsen is in her forth term as Saratoga County Supervisor representing the City of Saratoga Springs.  Since her first election in 2005, Joanne has enjoyed broad support across party lines, and has consistently carried the City of Saratoga Springs by comfortable margins.

I was talking to a member of the city's Republican Party recently and he said they don't really have any frontrunner to run against Yepsen at this point (if indeed that is her announcement. It is possible she will toss a curve and say she will be running again for Supervisor or some other office altogether).

Scott Johnson is declining to run for reelection and one of their promising potential candidates, Dave Patterson, is likely not going to run either (why would you if you could be getting a tan, after all). This particular Republican said Patterson was the hopeful opposite to Yepsen, but obviously that is not to be.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

At long last. After nearly 6 years of a secretive administration, one that requires a FOIL request for even basic information, a deficit in the City Attorney budget each and every year, Rec. Center operating deficits every year since its opening, failure to improve Waterfront Park even with the availability of several $100s of thousands, inability or unwillingness to deal with the SHA scandal in a straight forward manner, shoddy treatment of many City employees, an attempt uncovered by Comm. Madigan to provide additional water to benefit a politically connected property owner in Wilton without Council action and public disclosure, we finally are on the threshold of returning this government to the community.

No more attempts to manipulate the Civil Service Commission. No more threats.

Joanne, just promise to open this government and tell us the truth, re-established balanced boards, appoint truly good people, support the police and fire services and restoration of our parks and you will win going away.

Best of luck.

She's been pretty quiet on the County scene, name one thing she's been out front on...she's gone along to get along,as for her being Mayor it'll be a throw back to the Keehan term and we voted that away, she's tried to drive a perfectly legal gun show out of town and has made law biding people feel like crimnals----a candidate for Mayor who drives Commerce out of the City, don't be fooled her strong suit is personal ambition and that's all that comes with this candidate.Support the Police and Fire Dept and you'll win going away??These two Dept's are breaking the City....Whatta joke!

16 out of the 19 Saratoga County Board of Supervisors are Republican, so it's safe to say that when anything happens guess who will carry the vote? I think it is amazing that Yepsen could do so much for Saratoga Springs by being out numbered by such a large Republican block. This hard work shows in her election wins and even carrying Saratoga Springs, a heavily Republican stronghold, in the race for State Senate against the popular (at that time)Roy McDonald. Remember, it was Mayor Scott Johnson who led a contingent to Albany to get the casino here in Saratoga Springs. Yepsen has shown a drive to help not only Saratoga Springs as one of our Supervisors, but try to get as much support for her efforts from a Republican controlled Board, on issues that get County programs to add to the economy of Saratoga Springs, it is really unfair to compare one Mayor running for office to one who served in the past. Remember, if it wasn't for a disgruntled primary loser, Keehn would have beaten Johnson in his first run for Mayor.
