Dems seeking candidates

The City Democratic committee is seeking candidates to run for office. Former City Attorney Peter Tulin is chairing the dem's nomination committee. Expect to have names for candidates in the next month.

The dems have laid out a schedule for their nomination process, look for more details on the process in coming conversations.

Also, the Independence party held an open forum at the Art's Council building this evening. I'm not sure what on there, but early reports indicate that none of the region's newspapers or TV stations opted to attend.

I sure hope we didn't all miss the story of the year...

Andrew,

You did not miss anything by not attending the Independence meeting. The Dems have some excellent potential candidates for mayor and finance.

Clearly, Johnson and Sutton - because of Sutton - is extremely vulnerable, but the real issue is how to deal with the inertia, meanness and fiscal irresponsibility of Johnson.

Some are calling for a investigation into the dismissal of the building inspector and an audit of the recreational facility accounts.

The Democrats will do well to remember the treacherous behavior of newly minted Independence Party power broker Gordon Boyd. After a lifetime as a pretend Democrat, he successfully pursued a kamikaze mission against incumbent Democratic Mayor Valerie Keehn in 2007, refusing to accept the decision of Democratic primary voters and continuing as the candidate of not only the Independence Party but also of the abhorrent Conservative (anti-choice, anti-woman, anti-union, pro-gun, pro-war) Party to throw the election to Scott Johnson, who's accomplished absolutely nothing in office.

Democrats should stay focused on the task at hand: Beat Republicans and stop attacking each other.
