This just in:
Commissioner of Public Safety Ron Kim says he is considering all options, and will not make a decision until April or May.
Commissioner of Accounts John Franck says he would like to run for re-election, but would like full support from the party. Even if not endorsed, he says we will run on third-party lines.

No surprise that Franck says he'll run as a third party candidate. When he was a Republican and couldn't find any support in his own party, he switched and ran as a Democrat. Now that the Democrats have figured out that he can't be trusted, it's time for him to switch again. He'd be best as the candidate of the Me First Party, since all he cares about is himself.
I think Saratogians should really try voting for the candidate and not simply across party lines. I am sure John Franck, like many people, sees pros and cons to both Republicans and Democrats. Instead of getting angry about who is running with which party, we ought to take a look at what candidates are standing for and whether or not they are delivering on those issues.
If I was him I’d be embarrassed to run as a Democrat in Saratoga or as the democratic committee calls “A party Of KIM.”

This is pretty simple, as Franck is totally transparent.
In 2005, he ran for election on one and only one issue. He said he was going to correct the inequitable property assessments imposed by the previous Republican Accounts Commissioner. But as soon as Franck was elected, he declared a moratorium on reassessments, totally abandoning his pledge to correct the inequities. Since then, he's frozen the inequities in place, leaving the owners of high value properties with whopping tax breaks, because their real estate is grossly underassessed, and sticking middle and working class property owners with way more than their fair share of the tax burden because their homes are assessed at amounts that are way out of whack.
Want proof? It's obvious. Haven't you noticed that assessment protests are way down? That's because the owners of high value properties, who can afford to litigate every little technicality, know they're getting a huge tax break and have nothing to complain about.
Want more? In 2007, the Republican fat cats refused to field a candidate against Franck's bid for re-election as Accounts Commissioner because they couldn't find anybody who could possibly be friendlier to the wealthy real estate developers and property owners who form the foundation of the local GOP.
Voters who want to continue the same old favoritism for wealthy developers like Tom
Roohan and Sonny Bonacio should vote for John Franck. Those who want a more equitable approach should look for a better candidate.
